The World's Largest Pizza

The worlds largest pizza was created on December 8, 1990 at the Pick ‘n Play hypermarket in Johannesburg, South Africa. The "In your face starving people!" pizza measured 122 feet and 8 inches in diameter. It took 500 kg of flour, 800 kg of cheese and 900 kg of tomato puree. Huh? The biggest pizza was a cheese pizza? Suck Town. It was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, and still holds the Pizza World Record.

The World's Largest Cookie

That's not Area 51 on Google Earth. That's a giant freaking cookie. Chocolate chunk to be precise. And to be even more precise it has 6,000 lbs. of chocolate chunks. Wow. That's chunkier than my ex's underwear. At 40,000 lbs. with a diameter of 102 feet it is the largest cookie in the world.

Why would someone decide to make such a large cookie? Well first of all for attention. And if you're a cookie company like "Immaculate Baking Co." then a giant cookie is what you need. They of course said it was to raise awareness for the "Folk Artist Foundation". (The who? Hi my Name is Wilted Bumble Bee, and I like tacky Native American Art.) This thing has hippy fest written all over it. Come on. "Folk Artist" with baked goods.

There's so much more to tell with a giant cookie, but I'll leave the rest of this tale of to the Immaculate Baking Co. http://www.immaculatebaking.com/company_bigcookie.php

The Largest Plane

largest plane antonov av 225

The Antonov An-225 designed in the 1980s, is the largest and heaviest aircraft in the world. Primary role: Strategic lifter.

The Ukrainian Antonov An-225 is the largest aircraft in the world, and has been since the first one was produced in 1988. There have been claims that other aircraft are the largest like the A380, but these are all false information. The A380 is actually smaller than the 747 Continental, which is only the 2nd largest plane.

In the early 1980s the Antonov Design Bureau began working on a design based on the Antonov An-124 Ruslan. On December 21, 1988 the first An-225 was completed. The aircraft has since been used by not just the Soviet Union, but also the United States. Its service includes cargo transport, military transport, humanitarian aid efforts, and transportation of the Buran space shuttle.

Its dimensions are 59.3 ft high, 275.6 ft long, a wingspan of 290 ft and 2 in, and weighs 628,315 lbs empty. Its maximum speed is 530 mph, its ceiling height is 36,100 ft, and its maximum fuel range is 9,570 mi. It is the holder of 240 world records.

The Largest Helicopter

worlds largest helicopter mil homer

The Mil V-12 was the largest helicopter ever made. Only 2 were ever produced by the Mil Design Bureau. It's primary role was to be a heavy lifter.

When the Soviet Union needed a gigantic helicopter able to transport massive loads military equipment, who did they call? The Mil Design Bureau of course. In 1965 they got to work on prototype model V-12. In a rather short period of time just about 2 years later on June 27, 1967 the first prototype performed its first lift off-touchdown test. Upon landing the a tire burst, and its wheel disc was bent. Back to the garage. After repairs and alterations it made its first flight on July 10, 1968 from the Mil factory pad in Panki to the Mil OKB test flight facility in Lyubertsy.

The helicopter known as "Homer" by NATO set many records including reaching an altitude of 7,398 ft. It also won the Sikorsky Prize. But after all the testing to get this beast of the ground, and all the money put into building it the Soviet Union canceled production plans. Only 2 prototypes were ever built. Both with the same registration number SSSR-21142. The first one sits at the Mikhail Leontyevich Mil helicopter plant in Panki-Tomilino, Lyuberetsky District near Moscow, and the second one is on display at the Monino Air Force Museum. Its specs are as follows.

Length: 121 ft 4 in,
height: 41 ft,
max speed: 260 kmh,
fuel range: 310 mi,
service ceiling: 11,500 ft.

The Oldest Person

jeanne calment oldest woman

Before I begin this I know that many people of faith consider the oldest human ever to be Methuselah, who is said to have lived to the age of 969 years old. And then there is Shirali Muslimovc, who is claimed to have lived to the age of 163 years. These claim cannot be proven or disproven. This post is about the oldest known person with verified age by reputable sources.

According to the Guinness World Book of Records the oldest person to ever live was Jeanne Calment. A woman from Arles, France, who entered the Guinness Book of Records in 1988 for being the female to live, and then on October 17, 1995 she became the oldest person to ever live.

Jeanne was born on February 21, 1875 and died on August 4, 1997. Total life span equals 122 years and 164 days. Calment was the last documented person to have lived in the 1870s.

Side note: Jeanne Clement smoked cigarettes up until the age of 117, she drank port wine daily, and consumed a kilo of chocolate every week. The second oldest person to ever live also smoked. Something to think about.
