Delicious Designs

They say that sex is on the minds of people most hours of the day, especially of the minds of men. This is false. It's food. But can you put the 2 things together? Of course you can. Check out these designs using unconventional design materials such as food used to build sexy wearable fashion.

Artichoke Heart Gown
creator: photographer Ted Sabarese with designers Daniel Field and Wesley Naught of Project Runway.

It took the designers 6 hours to hand sew hundreds of artichoke hearts onto the model in the form of a dress. "Snap the pictures! I have to pee."

Chocolate Dress
creator: German bakery group "Lambertz"

Made of 100% solid chocolate created for a show in Munich on January 2010. Here it is worn by German model Alena Gerber. I'ld eat it.

Cream Puff Dress
creator: Ukranian pastry chef Valentyn Shtefano

1,500 creampuffs weighing 20 pounds went into making Mrs. Shtefano's wedding dress. It took Valentyn over 2 months to create the dress. I'm not sure why it would take so long to stick some food together. Maybe he kept eating them.

Lettuce Dress
creator: Project Runway season 4 finalist Chris March

With just $50.00 in hand Chris March set out to win the uncoventional design challenge of Project Runway season 4 by shopping for lettuce. For his efforts he recieved a delicious contract with Wish Bone for their spray-bottle salad dressing ad campaign.

Original

lanvin 1915
What does it mean to be an original? Basically it means you were the first. But there are a lot of people who do things first who never get the credit for being "Original". More than just being the first to be original means you were the first to do it in a way that made everyone else want to do the same.

When it comes to fashion there is one original. They weren't the first, but they were the first to do it with such romance. A name that doesn't come off the tongues of most fashion enthusiasts ever, but holds a special place in the hearts of those fashion houses that the whole world just can't live without. The name is Lanvin. Jeanne Lanvin.

Jeanne went from making clothes for her daughter to becoming designer to Paris's most elite. And then after the introduction of Lanvin Parfumes she made history. Taking the world of fashion from simple blue collar tailors to artists of higher society. Where people don't say they're wearing a dress. They say "I'm wearing Lanvin."

Lanvin is the world's oldest fashion house still in existence. From a time when dreams really could come true. Jeanne is an inspiration to all those up and coming designers out there selling their wares on the net. In a world where people like her wouldn't get a second glance she stood out and made the whole world notice. You've got to do something that's never been done before...with such passion and love.

The World's Most Expensive Hat

most expensive hat

Here we see actress Alicia Witt modeling the $2,700,000 "Champrau d'Amour" (Hat of Love), by renown hat designer Louis Mariette, at Christie's in London. The hat is covered entirely in dazzling diamonds and inspired by entwined ivy and bluebells. The hat is part of a private collection, and is not for sale. Boo hoo. People sure like to pay a lot for ugly things. Rip off the feathers and it's a crappily made top hat for a gay leprechaun.

The World's Most Expensive Dress

most expensive dress jendela kl

First unveiled at the 2009 Mercedes Benz Stylo Fashion Grand Prix Awards (that's a mouthful) in Kuala Lumpur the “Nightingale of Kuala Lumpur” has a price tag of $100,000,000.00. (Yowza! Get it insured.) It has a 6m-long train decorated with diamonds and Swarovski crystals, while a 70 carat tear-drop diamond from international jeweler Mouawad is fixed to the gown’s left bustier. The dress is a combination of Tafetta, raw silk, satin silk, satin net and chiffon.

I wouldn't pay that much for this dress though. Clearly the price tag comes from the jewels. All pinned up the way it is in the picture it doesn't look too bad, but when it was placed on the dress's model "Kavita" you could see the quality isn't even 2nd class. It's too loose around the body, and the train has no direction. Take off the jewels and this is a $10.00 dress from Sears.

World's Most Expensive Shoes

These $3,000,000.00 slippers designed by fashioneer Ronald Winston, and crafted by Javiar Barerra for the 50th anniversary of the "Wizard of Oz" took 2 months to make. The slippers include 4,600 rubies totaling 1,350 carats, along with 50 carats of diamonds. The slippers have been on sale since 1989 with no prospective buyers. And just looking at them I'm not surprised. They look as if they've been worn by every Judy Garland fan in the world since the time of their creation. Plus they look nothing like the slippers "Dorthy" wore in the movie. They look more like Santa's ruby slippers.

World's Most Expensive Purse

Mouawad's "1001 Nights Diamond Purse" displayed at the Doha Jewelery and Watches Exhibition on Feb. 20, has set a record as the world's most expensive handbag.

The House Of Mouawad have created the "1001 Nights" diamond purse. Handcrafted from 18KT gold, with 4,517 diamonds at a total carat weight of 381.92 this purse took 10 artisans 1,100 hours to construct. Dubai based designer Mouawad is also known for his diamond bra he created for Victoria's Secret.

As a dude I don't like to be near purses. I won't even carry one of those "man purses" or any type of bag. Of course I hold my wife's purse when she needs me to out of politeness. I still don't like it though. My rule is if it doesn't fit into my pockets then I don't need to bring it with me. However at the cost of $3.8 million I would carry this thing with me everywhere. I'm not letting it out of my site.
